WHY THIS TRIP TO OMAN?
Geographically located on lucrative ancient trade routes, the Sultanate of Oman has a history of wealth, power and dominance of both the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian Ocean coastlines as far as Zanzibar (East Africa) and India. The cultural diversity of present day Oman reflects the historical influences of Persia, Portugal, Arabia, India, Africa and France, resulting in a fascinating blend. Vast deserts, wild coastlines and rugged mountains dotted with forts add to the blend, making every day a wonderful surprise. On this adventure we wander traditional market places, discover the secrets inside ancient forts and abandoned villages, and walk the greenery of the Jabal Akhdar mountains. This is a brilliant mix in a compact itinerary.
Climate
The country’s climate is predominantly arid and varies slightly from one region to another. In the coastal areas, the weather is hot and humid during the summer months, while it is dry elsewhere in the interior. Milder weather dominates the mountains all the year round. Winter temperatures can be as low as 15°Celsius and summer temperatures can be as high as 46° Celsius in Muscat and as high as 50° in the desert. Best Time to Visit : The ideal time of the year to visit Oman is between October and April, when the weather is pleasantly warm in the day and cool in the evening. The sinkhole itself is neat to check out and there are stairs to access and a nice garden to sit in. There are some rooms to get changed in and use toilets but there isn’t much space. It is free to enter and is a well-maintained area with some security. The sinkhole is between the mountains and the sea.
